- Our homes are NON-SMOKING. Please do not smoke in the house, on the porches or on the pool deck.
- Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: Pets Are Welcome!
- A dog crate can be found in the master bedroom.
- Please clean up after your pets.
- Oakland Bear Lair: A clean cat litter box can be found in the basement.
- Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: Little Kids Ready!
- Pack and Play is available for guest use. Please bright your own linens.
- Oakland Bear Lair: High Chair is available for guest use.
- Oakland Bear Lair: ADT Alarm:
- The alarm is disabled during your stay — no need to worry about it.
- Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: Water:
- We’re on well water – it’s heavily filtered and safe to drink.
- Please avoid filling the bathtubs daily to help conserve water.
- Hot Water comes from an instant gas water heater. It may take up to 1 minute to heat up but then it gets very hot.
- Air Conditioning:
- Oakland Bear Lair: There are 5 A/C units (3 on the main floor, 2 upstairs). Remote controls are hanging near the door frames in each room. Point the remote at the unit and press “On”. Please return remotes to their hooks after use.
- Lake Bear Lair: There is central A/C.
- Heating:
- There are 6 Nest thermostats which control the gas baseboard heaters.
- Please do not turn the thermostats off.
- Please do not set the temperature above 72 degrees.
- Laundry:
- Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: New washer & dryer available for your use.
- Please do not leave them running when you leave the house.
- Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: Fireplaces:
- If you use the gas fireplace in the master bedroom, please make sure it is turned off when not in the house. The gas fireplace remote is on the mantel.
- Oakland Bear Lair: If you use the wood-burning fireplace in the living room, please make sure the flue is on when you light it up. Please make sure the fire is fully extinguished before going to bed or leaving and you have closed the flue to keep the house from cooling off when the fireplace is off.
- Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: Smart TVs:
- Every room is equipped with a Samsung Smart TV.
- Please log into your own streaming accounts and log out before you leave.
- If you forget, we’ll take care of it!
🍽️Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: Kitchen Notes
- Make Yourself at Home!
- Feel free to use everything in the kitchen and dining room.
- Most cabinets are labeled for ease of use.
- Supplies:
- Dishwasher detergent and cleaning supplies are under the sink.
- Dishes and silverware are in cabinets, labeled accordingly.
- Keurig Pods are under the Keurig itself, with more in the cabinet right above it.
- Both homes are equipped with an Insta Pot, an indoor Ninja grill, a Ninja blender and food processor, a coffee maker and a Keurig, a dutch oven, a toaster oven, a mixer, a waffle maker, full set of pots, pans, baking sheets and cooking utensils.
- Grills:
- Gas grill is available for your use (located on the front porch at Oakland Bear Lair and the back porch at Lake Bear Lair).
- Oakland Bear Lair: Blackstone gas grill is available for your use.
- Please turn off the gas after use and clean the grill utensils used.
- Please clean the grill to the best of your abilities before you leave.
- Oakland Bear Lair: Kitchen Faucet:
- The kitchen sink is sensor-controlled.
- Turn the handle on, then wave your hand to activate the water.
- Oakland Bear Lair: Living Room Blinds:
- Use the remote control (point it at the blinds). Please hang the remote back after use.
🏊♂️Oakland Bear Lair: Pool Guidelines
- No Alcohol or Tobacco on the pool deck, please.
- No pets in the pool, please.
- Pool Controls:
- Controlled by the local Pool Maintenance crew.
- If facing any issues with the pool, please text Asya @ 240.505.8316 and the Pool Maintenance crew will stop by within the day to address your questions and concerns.
- The heater is turned on for your use.
- Pool Cover:
- A sunshade cover helps keep the pool warm – put it back on for the night.
🏊♂️Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: Hot Tub Guidelines
- Hot Tub Cover:
- The hot tub cover needs to be held on both end to be lifted (the side arms are a bit tricky).
- Please lean the hot tub cover to rest on a chair when open.
- Please make sure to close the hot tub when not in use to keep it hot.
- Hot Tub Heater:
- Located in the middle of the hot tub, under the cover.
- If you increase the temperature (it goes up to 102 degrees F), it would take a few hours for the desired temperature to be reached (as long as you put the cover back on, otherwise the hot tub will cool off instead of heat up).
🛏️Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: Bedrooms & Linens
- Linens:
- Upon check in, you will find all beds with clean sheets, made shortly before your arrival.
- Before you leave, please remove used sheets and place them in the hamper in each room.
- Extra Bedding:
- Extra covers are provided in each room’s closet.
- Please feel free to wash linens during your stay as needed.
- Towels:
- Clean towels are on placed on each bed.
- Please feel free to wash towels during your stay as needed.
- Please gather all used towels in the bathtub before leaving.
- Oakland Bear Lair: Bed Heaters:
- All beds have bed heaters that you are welcome to use. The digital controller is near the top of each bed.
Oakland & Lake Bear Lairs: Bathrooms:
- Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash have been provided in each bathroom for your convenience.
- Hand soap dispensers are on the bathroom sinks (some are installed in the granite countertops).
- Extra toilet paper rolls can be found under each bathroom cabinet.
- Hair dryer can be found in most bathroom cabinet.
- Oakland Bear Lair: All toilets are equipped with bidets. Please make sure to turn them off completely after each use.
